Dear BAA Alumni: 2001 BAA annual meeting took place in Chinese Civic Center (Baoshan Jin Library) on March 31, 2001. The meeting was organized jointly by the Alumni Association of Peking Medical University and Peking University. Welcome to the alumni of Peking Medical University to join BAA! For those of you unable to attend, we hope you can join the upcoming events this year! I would like to announce the new board and a few things about this year's activities. 1). Activities/Plans A. Major Events 1. Spring recreation party (Middle of May) 2. Fall picnic party (September / October) 3. Spring Festival party (February) 4. Annual meeting to elect a new board. Details about each event will be sent out a few weeks in advance. B. Clubs / Seminars We will continue to support and sponsor activities participated/organized by active members. 1. Medicare seminar (by professional doctors) 2. Financial / Investment / Realty Estate seminars 3. Immigration seminar 4. Sports clubs (bridge, weiqi, chess, basketball, soccer, table tennis, tennis etc.) We are planning for some tournament if enough members are involved. Please contact Yun Lin, Hongbin Wang, or Yiming Yang if you want to join. 5. Special interest group activity (music, literature...) C. Community Activities We will actively participate in / organize various activities together with other organizations of the Houston Chinese Community and try to be profitable so that we can bring more benefit to our members. D. Public Relation We need to enhance the connections between BAA and PKU. We will strengthen the communication with other local community organizations. Peking University Outstanding Scholarship Thanks to the great support of Mr. Huazhang Xu, the first PKU Outstanding Scholarship was a good successful start. Based on last year's foundation, Mr. Xu decided to add two scholarships for Medical School students of PKU. We're going to work harder and more efficiently to make this year a better one. 3). Membership A. Discount Card There are still some discount cards available. For the active members (those who has paid the 2001 annual fee), if you have not got the discount card and would like to have one, please email me your mailing address and I will send it to you (first come, first served). B. Alumni Web Page & Mailing List Our alumni web page is at http://www.stormloader.com/baa/ Yong Huang is our web master and he has put some interesting links on the web. Also, the latest member list is available now. The passwd for accessing the detailed member list is "1". We are planning to fully make use of our mailing list, which could be an essential tool to exchange information.
