The following is the report on 8/7 Houston demonstration.
On August 7 from 10-12 a.m., 32 Houston Chinese and ethnic Chinese organizations jointly held a demonstration in front of the Indonesia Consulate General Houston. The event drew more than three hundred people, a dozen of reporters from TV and newspapers and half a dozen police. It lasted two and half hours in a moderate rain showers, during which three speeches were made, and two protesting letters were read. The protesting letters, signed by more than 500 people, were presented by Siliang Yang and Hua Xu to a representative of the Consulate who promised to send it to the Indonesian government.
The demonstration culminated by hundreds of slogans and posters that expressed the demonstrators' anger against the Indonesian atrocities and their demands for justice. The main organizers of the event, Harry Guo, Siliang Yang and Gan Liang, told reporters that the demonstration was in sympathy with other demostrations across the nation at the same time.
I will write a paragraph on Alumni's participation in this activity.
